A great theological mistake from which much of the religious confusion of the world stems is the belief in the reality of evil. Christian Science shows that all evil is animal magnetism and teaches us how to negate the multitude of false beliefs engendered by such a lie.
Everyone desires a healthy body, and many individuals have found that to consider their bodies as servants rather than as masters is to take an important step in having less difficulty with them. In a very real sense, man is the conscious embodiment of Spirit's ideas and of those faculties, capacities, and qualities which characterize him as the spiritual reflection of God.
As we grow in our understanding of Christian Science, we increasingly learn how to discern between the God-bestowed, permanent qualities of Spirit and the transient claims of matter. This discernment separates the real from the unreal, the spiritual from the material, and proves the spiritual to be eternal.

For a long time I have been impressed with the necessity of understanding the meaning, and place, from a scientific standpoint, of the word "Confidence. " The Century Dictionary defines it, first, "Reliance on one's own powers, resources, or circumstances; belief in one's own competency; self-reliance; assurance.
Christianity was not known as Science until it was so revealed by Mary Baker Eddy. It was a system of religious beliefs, of widely varying doctrines, until her discovery that Christianity is founded upon divine Principle, which constitutes all reality, governs all real activity, and underlies all true existence; that, being exact Science, it has rules which may be learned and practiced by those who study carefully its letter and imbibe its Spirit.
The teachings of Christian Science uphold the highest standard for Christian character maintained by the Christian churches,—a standard which all agree has been determined by the words and works of Christ Jesus, the Way-shower. But Christian Science goes on even farther and shows that these selfsame words and works require of a Christian much more than the mere acceptance of this standard before all that the word "Christian" implies can possibly be fulfilled, for the master Christian placed upon every one that believes on his word the unavoidable obligation to "heal the sick" by the grace and power of God.
We have been especially impressed by the testimony of several persons who were healed solely through the study of [the Christian Science textbook]. The history of this text-book has been that of a healing and regenerating agency, and the constant accumulation of such testimony as that referred to is proof that the works which our Master performed are still going on in his name, and in accord with his promises.
