Prior to the 1989 overthrow of the communist regime in Romania, there had been no open practice of Christian Science permitted in that country for nearly a half century. Then in September 1990 more than twenty young Romanians attended the European Youth Meeting in Hamburg, Germany, sponsored by European Christian Scientists and The Mother Church.
