Most of us can probably recall occasions—on the world scene or in our community—in which an individual's firmness in standing for what was right helped him or her to surmount adamant opposition. Being firm in one's stand for the spiritual reality of God and man is important in Christian Science treatment, too.
Years ago a friend and I were having a dialogue in which I was the student and she was very much the instructor. She was drilling me on the battle gear of a Christian, on the basic armor spoken of in the Bible.
The sign covered a shop window: "Pre-opening clearance today. " There might be times when, like the owner of that shop, we want to make a clearance even before we get started on something new! The clearance, however, is often not simply of unwanted objects but of nagging thoughts that keep troubles clinging tightly to us.
"Economy" sounds so theoretical to most people, but it isn't theoretical at all when we think of it in terms of earning a living, providing for a family, and thinking about the future. What does "economy" mean to most of us? Is it that good is limited—that there isn't enough good to go around? Since we know that God is good, would that mean that there isn't enough of God to go around? Such a concept of economy couldn't come from God, for God is infinite Mind, and in infinite Mind are infinite—spiritual—ideas.

Have you ever wondered why, despite advancements in scientific technology, there seems to be so much less advancement in man's humanity toward his fellowman? War, cruelty, injustice, moral blindness, seem as prevalent today as thousands of years ago. We can get to the moon, but we can't get along with our neighbor! Yet one of the most basic teachings of Christianity is to love one's neighbor as oneself.
