What enabled Christ Jesus to heal through spiritual means alone? A deep study of the Bible reveals that the Master's healing power flowed from his great goodness and love for mankind. It was, in fact, his Godlikeness—his God-inspired expression of divine qualities— that was the source of his unparalleled power to do good and to relieve humanity's sufferings.

There can be nothing apart from infinity, nothing additional to omnipresence. Whatever seems to be, yet differs from God's loving presence and perfection, is illusion.

A Christian Scientist is spiritually alert to discern disease as an error of belief rather than as the physical malady it appears to be. The Christian Science nurse especially needs to know that physical sickness hints at a diseased or limited state of thought and that both the physical disorder and the mortal mentality are suggestions only.

How much more there is to calling a Christian Science practitioner than just dialing a number and making a request of the person who answers! The healing Christ, Truth, is always present with its message of comfort, and both the caller and the practitioner are reaching out for this needed message. When the thought of the practitioner is so inspired that any argument of evil is recognized as an illusion, and the caller has humbled the human mind to a state of receptivity, often there is an immediate healing.

All afternoon and on into the night a relatively new Christian Science practitioner had been earnestly praying for a patient with an urgent problem. Through communion with divine Love she had seen through each mortal fear involved in the case and had vigorously and understandingly affirmed the present perfection of God and of man in His own image.

While I was a supervisor at a summer camp, it was my responsibility to see that the staff members upheld their duties to the program. I had assured my employer that I would keep him informed about anything that might affect the camp's welfare.

 This author writes, “Whether our home is threatened, or our friendships or business relations, whether our nations are threatened, or all of the human race, the spiritual basis for healing is the same. God is One and infinite; He is All, complete totality. Man continually reflects, or expresses, God; he images forth all God's qualities.”

For years after I became a student of Christian Science, the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy was merely a little book of rules to me.
