Anything that’s special or valuable must satisfy a need. In order to fully appreciate the value of Christian Science, its movement, and its Leader, it is imperative to understand the ultimate need or problem of the human condition and how only this Science solves it.
Anyone who has experienced healing in Christian Science has learned something of this. The human experience proves to be built on a model that’s imperfect or mortal, while Christian Science reveals the right model. Referring to what she discovered, Mary Baker Eddy explained, “The Science of being furnishes the rule of perfection, and brings immortality to light,” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 336).
Mrs. Eddy’s writings, together with the means she put in place for practicing this Science, enable us to find the life we have of God—apart from the pain and emptiness of materiality and united with the divine Principle of Life. We find the peace of the life that expresses or emanates from our divine Creator, immortal Mind. Like the Bible says, “Go in peace: before the Lord is your way wherein ye go” (Judg. 18:6).
