I have often heard about high profile people who travel with their own chefs, personal trainers, doctors, bodyguards, and others who are considered essential to their health, security, and peace of mind while on the road. Sometimes entire floors of hotels are reserved to accommodate an entourage that works to keep that one person functional and happy. My own years of extensive travel for business and pleasure have sometimes made me wish for my own entourage to accompany me while I navigate airports, car rentals, and unfamiliar cities and hotels.
While recently traveling for business, I read a statement Mary Baker Eddy wrote inMiscellaneous Writings 1883–1896: “God is our Father and our Mother, our Minister and the great Physician: . . .” (p. 151). While I was thinking about this statement, it occurred to me that I do travel with an entourage: I travel with my heavenly Father-Mother, my Minister, and Physician. Actually, God is my entourage!
Throughout my travels, God’s wisdom has guided me in business negotiations and meetings. I can always rely on the protective power of Principle that plans my trips. God comforts me when I am far away from my home and helps me to see His unlimited love expressed to and from everyone I encounter. My divine Minister is with me at all times to inspire and shed light on any supposed problem or challenge during travel. Seats on flights have been found on otherwise full flights, assistance with unwieldy baggage has been offered from and to other passengers, fear on particularly rough flights has been abated, hotel upgrades have been offered without asking, correct directions and pleasant conversations along the way are all expressions of God’s love, protection, and care.
