On one occasion, 16 years ago, I suffered from a skin condition that bothered me a lot. Although I didn’t see a doctor, the symptoms were those of herpes zoster, an ailment also known as zona or shingles.
Since I had just taken Christian Science Primary class instruction, I decided to give Christian Science treatment to myself and put into practice what I had learned during the course, in order to find healing through prayer.
Then, I turned my thought to God and remembered this verse from the Bible: “God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:31). I acknowledged the perfection of divine creation and the fact that I, as part of that creation and as God’s reflection, could not manifest any imperfection, only the spiritual and divine perfection. I mentally affirmed that sickness is unreal because there is no room in God’s infinity for anything unlike His harmonious nature. As God created me perfect, I am always able to express well-being. I focused on these ideas, in order to recognize the unreality of any physical problem.
