A challenge for the ages

From The Christian Science Journal - June 17, 2013

So what is “Emergence Christianity”?

I cannot think of anyone better able to explain it and engage us in spirited debate over it than Phyllis Tickle, who makes it plain that a central characteristic of emergence is its firm belief in inclusivity and the importance of diversity in worship and in community.

Tickle is perhaps best known among religion writers today for her role as founding editor of the religion department of Publishers Weekly. Many of us have heard interviews with her on radio or television, or read essays by her in such publications as the The New York Times, USA Today, or TIME.
