Museums and miracles

From The Christian Science Journal - November 13, 2013

I’ve had many wonderful healings in Christian Science—all over the world, in fact. A unique one happened while I was traveling in France.

I’d been to France years before with a Christian Science friend. She and I had heard many, albeit stereotypical, stories about how rude the French could be to Americans. We had decided to pray, prior to our trip, to see all God’s children as perfect and complete, incapable of being rude or uncaring. My friend and I made it our objective to keep praying throughout our travels. We encountered lovely people and we had a wonderful trip.

Years later, before my second visit, I had once again prayed, prior to arriving in France, to see God’s harmony unfold. My traveling companion this time was a Christian, and she knew I was a Christian Scientist who relied on prayer for guidance and healing. We’d had several conversations about prayer, about the presence of the Christ in our lives, and also about how we both wanted to witness healing work on a daily basis. So, it was fairly common for us to talk about the Bible, Jesus’ healings, and what it meant to be “Christian.”
