Gratitude and forgiveness are two qualities of divine Love that I have endeavored to express since childhood, and they have brought me many blessings.
After my divorce, I earnestly prayed to forgive my ex-husband regarding issues related to our divorce, and to see in him the man whom God created. I also came to understand what Mary Baker Eddy meant when she wrote, “Human affection is not poured forth vainly, even though it meet no return. Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 57).
I prayed, too, about the financial challenges I began to face. It was very clear to me that I couldn’t allow these challenges to disrupt the care and mother-love I had for my four children (a boy and three girls). When some members of my family wanted to take my three little girls from me to alleviate the economic burden, I knew that they had good intentions, but I didn’t allow it. I asked God for the wisdom to know how I could take care of the children without having to work outside my home.
