Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

Meeting a real thinker

When I was a senior in my high school, I declared to my parents, “I am going to America to meet people of my age to see what they are thinking!”  While many of my peers were concerned about entrance exams to universities and colleges, I doubted if going to a university in Japan was my true desire. I had excellent teachers up to that point, but I was searching for deeper meaning in life.

Sustainability—a metaphysical approach

There’s lots of talk in the media these days about the concept of sustainability. The term has been broadly defined as “the capacity to endure.

Renewal and life's real substance

As there is none beside Him, and He is all good, there can be no evil. Simply uttering this great thought is not enough! We must live it, until God becomes the All and Only of our being.

The Church Manual provides

The Church Manual   provides for the Christian Science Board of Directors to ask a lecturer to go to “such places and at such times as the cause of Christian Science demands” ( Article XXXII, Section 1 ). This was the case, early in 2010, when I was asked to lecture in Central America.

As a student  of Christian Science for some 50 years now, I wish to express my gratitude for all of the ongoing prayerful work that goes into shoring up the timeliness and relevance of this religion in the 21st century. Many contemporary examples of this work can be found in the current Christian Science periodicals.

The beauty of holiness

Like many women throughout the ages, I have struggled with the model for womanhood that the world presents to us, primarily its standard of material beauty. At times, I have tried to achieve this standard, while at other times I have striven to feel independent of its false definition.

Under the mighty hand of God

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. — First Peter 5:6, 7 It is generally held in the practice of Christian Science healing that a right understanding of man’s relationship to God, the application of specific spiritual truths to the circumstance at hand, and selfless love for God and man, heal all inharmonious conditions.

Fearless performance

It was such a privilege to be a part of a jazz workshop a number of years ago, working with musicians who were willing to share years of honed experience. While most of us were amateurs, all of the teachers were currently making commercial CDs or performing live all over the world.
