LATE ON A WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON in Oslo, Norway, with the promise of flowers breaking the gray shadows of winter, four Norwegian members of The Mother Church had come to Oslo to meet with three representatives of The Christian Science Publishing Society—Leide Lessa, managing editor of The Herald of Christian Science, Irmela Wigger, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher from Hamburg, Germany, and myself—to discuss a new publishing strategy and the future of the Norwegian Herald. We met in a small hotel meeting room because a year earlier members had closed the church in Oslo, sold the building, and disbanded as a Christian Science Society.

Leide Lessa, managing editor of The Herald of Christian Science, along with John Sparkman, business development director of The Christian Science Publishing Society, and Kari Mashos, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, traveled recently to Italy and Greece to meet with Christian Scientists. Leide gives highlights of their travels and the insights she gained from meeting fellow church members from these two cradles of civilization.
In early February 2009, the Christian Science Board of Directors visited Christian Science branch Churches and Societies in Poland and India. Dilshad Khambatta Eames, Board communications coordinator, originally from pune, India, accompanied them, along with Nancy Price, travel manager for the Board of Directors.
In our March issue, Ariana Herlinger reported on the history and vibrant present of Christian Science in the Democratic Republic of Congo. For this month's issue she crosses the Congo River into the neighboring Republic of Congo and relays more stories of resilience, courage, and church growth.
