"AS ONE WHOM HIS MOTHER COMFORTETH"

I remember how in growing years, when fearful or alarmed, I ran to mother's outstretched arms for comfort, and was calmed; And as the years unfolded, still in hours of fear or stress, Like as in childhood's troubled days, I sought her tenderness; O mother heart, in comfort's art, where can I find your counterpart! "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you. " It is the voice of Love I hear, and hope springs up anew As now I see that thoughts of God a consolation hold, Reflected in that mother love which comforted of old.

Thou God-idea, Life-encrowned, The Bethlehem babe— Beloved, replete, by flesh embound— Was but thy shade! Thou gentle beam of living Love, And deathless Life! Truth infinite,—so far above All mortal strife, Or cruel creed, or earth-born taint: Fill us today With all thou art—be thou our saint, Our stay, alway.

" As Jesus turned from Satan's cunning bribes, So these refused to leave their high estate; For Nehemiah's foresight, and his love Of God and man, inspired them all to do Their work with gratitude and patient mind Until the wall was mended and complete.

SONGS OF PRAISE

For progress made, for fears allayed, We offer songs of praise; For love, and peace, and plenitude Throughout the Truth-filled days, For inspiration gained through prayer When mortal sense is still; Accept, O God, our thanks for this The harvest of Thy will.

PATTERN OF PERFECTION

In thinking rightly always good is gained: True thoughts are God-inspired, God-sustained. What is the pattern that we name perfection? Man's constant witnessing as God's reflection!
