LETTER TO THE WIFE OF A HOMEOPATHIC PHYSICIAN

From the May 1885 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear Madam:—I have heard from time to time of your attacks upon the President of the Mass. Metaphysical College.

It has been Mrs. Eddy's great good fortune to have been chosen the Messenger of Truth to this Age. Why it was not you or I who were thus chosen, instead of her, I am at a loss to say, unless, because of our utter unworthiness. Truth, as promulgated by her, has met with the same reception it has always received, in whatever time or place it has appeared. Always the cry goes forth, "Crucify Him, crucify Him!"

Homeopathy, which led the vanguard of Christian Science, was scouted and ridiculed in its earlier history, as Christian Science is to-day. But, possessing a grain of Truth big as a mustard seed, it has grown to the proportions of a goodly tree, and thousands of the fowls of the air, who had only words of derision for the School, and contempt for its practitioners, have been only too thankful to find shelter in its branches from the nauseous potions of Allopathy.
