"A Little Child Shall Lead Them."

From the June 1885 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A Scientist's little boy went on a short visit to his grandparents in the country. He had heard the first lessons of God's saving omnipresence and treasured them in his heart. One day his grandfather was taken very ill. This little boy, who had never realized any responsibility whatever, became suddenly conscious of an obligation devolving upon him. At first he shrank before it, saying, "Grandma, you can cure grandpa as well as I can." "No," said his grandmother; "I'm afraid I can't." Then Johnnie left his toys and sat down close to his grandfather with his eyes closed and hands folded for about the space of ten minutes. "If you are not better pretty soon, call me in," he said, as he went out for a romp with the dog. But he did not wait to be called. In a very few minutes he ran in to ask how grandpa was. As he was no better, Johnnie courageously tried it again; this time with success, for suddenly, while he was treating him, his grandfather said, "I feel as well as I ever did in my life." Then the child ran away satisfied.
