From May to November 1885, my health was very poor, during which I was treated by physicians in good and regular practice, but without improvement. I became so weak that frequently, while attempting to walk, I fell, utterly helpless. My weight was reduced to seventy pounds. The physicians who treated me expressed the opinion that dyspepsia and liver complaint were the cause of my disability, and prescribed medicines. But all to no good. I constantly grew worse. In November 1885, I first consulted Mrs. M. J. Davis, of Fitchburg, Mass., a Christian Scientist, and endeavored to follow her advice and treatment to the best of my ability. I soon began to improve, and am now perfectly well and strong. My weight is now one hundred and twenty pounds. Before I saw Mrs. Davis, my friends had given me up to die, and I had lost all hope of ever being well again. The Christian Science Method of treatment, as applied to my case by Mrs. Davis, has made a new person of me, body and soul; being raised to a new and improved mode of life, in which faith, hope, courage, and vigor, leave no room for doubts or despondency.
