About three months ago, yielding to the urgent solicitations of friends, I placed myself under the treatment of Mrs. Laura Lathrop, C.S.B., 137 West 34th Street, New York City. For more than twenty years I had been suffering from a chronic difficulty, which had baffled the skill of many of the best physicians in New York, Brooklyn, and other localities. Neither medicine nor surgery reached the case. I had, during periods of extreme suffering, exhausted the list of the most powerful anodynes ever administered by doctors of any school, and endured untold agony at the hands of skilful surgery. Today the physician who had me in charge when I commenced treatment with Mrs. Lathrop —a practitioner of the old school, and a gentleman standing high in his profession—pronounces me practically cured, and commends Christian Science to the attention of many of his patients.
For myself, I can say, that this Divine gift of healing, as taught by Mrs. Eddy, has opened before me a new world, bright with glorious possibilities. From the depths of despair and suffering I have been raised to comparative health. For two months I have entirely discarded medicine, depending wholly upon Metaphysical treatment, which has proved equal to all emergencies; and most cheerfully I acknowledge my obligation, under the blessing of God, to Mrs. Lathrop,—a lady who is, I believe, doing pre-eminently God's work.
