Quite a little flurry of excitement has been raised in town by some remarkable cures effected on prominent parties well known here, by one Filbert, of Council Bluffs, who assumes to heal by "Christian Science." Mrs. A. W, Chisholme, living north of town, and who has very many warm friends and acquaintances here, has been suffering intensely, for the past few years, from rheumatism, neuralgia of the heart and lung disease, until her life was nigh despaired of. One day last week, her son, John Keith, came down from North Platte, accompanied by Mr. Isaac Dillon. Mr. Dillon had been to Council Bluffs, recently and had a cataract removed from his eye that had threatened its utter destruction, and the thought struck Mr. Keith that he would induce his mother to go to Mr. Filbert for treatment. Accordingly, on Tuesday morning, she was bundled up, and in the greatest misery was placed on the Grand Island train, for Council Bluffs. Her limbs were swollen with rheumatism, her lungs sore with coughing, and her heart almost torn with neuralgia, until she was fearful she could not survive the journey. She took treatment, and on Saturday returned; not the afflicted body that went down two days before, but a bright, happy, well woman, that seemed to have renewed her age by at least a quarter of a century. Her step was quick and elastic, her spirits bright and buoyant, and she was as we knew her twenty-five years ago. We give the facts, and our readers may draw the inference, and make the criticisms. What the cause and treatment was, we know not; but this we do know, that she was sick, and now she is well.
