THE WORD

From the September 1895 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WE find in the Bible many references to the "Word." There is the word of exhortation, the word of prophecy, the word of his grace, the faithful word, and the word fitly spoken, which is said to be like apples of gold in baskets of silver.

In John: 1, we read according to Rotherham, "Originally was the Word: and the Word was with God; and the Word was God" — and farther on in the same chapter, "And the Word became flesh and pitched his tent amongst us, and we gazed upon his glory, a glory as of an Only-Begotten from a Father, full of favor and Truth."

We learn in Christian Science, that Truth is a synonym for God. If the Word was God, and God is Truth, it follows that the Word is Truth.
