When Christian Science was unknown to me and there was no brighter prospect than a continuation of strife and turmoil, I began to loose myself from the obligations of the church which reared me. Praying always for the more abundant life spoken of in John, 10:10. I had small expectation of realizing my hope, when, without knowing a Christian Scientist in the wide world, or ever having seen the Christian Science text-book, I sent to Boston for a copy of Science and Health, and when it came I simply devoured it.
It was a marvelous revelation and seemed to be the truth. It did not agree with my old theology or physical claims, but my better self said, This is true. The author boldly asserted that there was Scriptural authority for her statements, and that she had proved her system. I was not incredulous. Very soon there came a sense of liberation from the minor limitations of belief, with bright promises of greater achievements. The re-formation which has taken place since that time is common to all who espouse the truth.
This little book is now to me the revealed word of Love. It has elevated thought, and shown me where to gather my pearls.
