I was afflicted with asthmatic trouble for more than forty years. The only relief to be obtained was from the use of morphine, and the physician was obliged to increase the dose constantly to have any effect. Toward the last of my illness I was obliged to call in the doctor every week, and on one occasion he administered so much morphine that I slept continuously for fifteen hours, then awoke for about one or two hours and slept ten more. I then inquired of the physician how it would end. He merely shrugged his shoulders and said this was all that could be done. By this time I had become so afflicted that the slightest exertion would induce an attack.
A friend had mentioned Christian Science to me, but I had rejected it, feeling that it might conflict with the teaching of the Jewish faith to which I adhered closely. Now, in my hour of despair, I determined to call for Christian Science aid, notwithstanding this, and a practitioner was sent for. Relief came immediately, and after the practitioner had made three visits I was well enough to go to her and had further help for about one week, during which time I was completely and permanently healed. In addition to this, I had worn a rubber stocking for fourteen years and had been informed that this could never be removed except during my sleeping hours. The practitioner told me I might remove it, but I felt this to be impossible. One morning, however, I forgot it in my haste, going down town before I missed it. This showed I had been healed of that troublesome ailment also, and I have never had occasion to use the stocking since. I can bring ample and convincing testimony to the accuracy of ray statements.
