Testimonies of Healing

Sixteen years ago I was a physical wreck, being afflicted...

From the October 1906 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Sixteen years ago I was a physical wreck, being afflicted with the severest forms of disease, the heart, lungs, and stomach being involved, and there was said to be an internal growth. I had been treated during three years by several of the best physicians of Harrisburg. They gave me neither relief nor encouragement, and I went to the Woman's Hospital in Philadelphia. I was there six weeks, during which time I was frequently examined, there being not less than seven physicians present at two of the consultations. They told 'me that my internal trouble was so serious that I could not be saved except by an operation for the removal of all the affected organs; that there would be very little hope for me even after the operation, and that it would not be many years until I should die of the disease. I left the hospital the day before the time set for the operation. The physicians protested against my leaving without the operation, but I refused to permit it. My condition grew worse after I came home, and I wrote to the hospital to be taken back, but was informed that it was too late. For two years after leaving the hospital I used various drugs, and afterward tried several systems of so-called mental healing. The only apparent effect was to relieve the pain, but there was no actual improvement.

Finally I took up the study of Christian Science, and was healed by the reading of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and by the application of the rules set forth therein. The healing was slow, but I could see constant improvement, until finally every one of the ailments mentioned above was overcome. For more than two years I have not had a trace of any of them. I am to-day well and strong.

I can cheerfully testify that nothing but Christian Science healed me. The debt of gratitude we owe to Mrs. Eddy for giving us the healing and saving truth is beyond words to express.—
