The anonymous letter is universally regarded as the refuge of those who have not the courage to stand fairly for their opinions. It would seem that our Leader's untiring work for humanity earns her the right to expect that all communications addressed to her shall be signed. Emphatically is it true that there is no possible excuse for one who calls himself a Christian Scientist, violating this commonest of courtesies.
Therefore it is reasonable that this request for the name of the person responsible for a registered letter from the London field, addressed to "The Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy," dated January 13, 1906, and signed "A Woman," should be complied with.
It may be added that the Cause of Christian Science is the cause of all mankind, and that the question of sex does not enter into its ministrations. Jesus gave an exact standard for both men and women when he said, "By their fruits ye shall know them;" and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" places this same standard before all Christian Science workers. It is also evident that a "Teachers' Association" is an association of and for teachers, and it would not appear that a By-law was necessary further to illumine this fact.
