I feel that I should give my testimony to the healing and redeeming power of Christian Science. I had not known good health from my earliest childhood. I experienced religion in my childhood; my sainted parents prayed with and for me, yet I did not receive the healing we sought. As I came into womanhood I grew stronger, though never free from some disease. In October, 1901, I was thrown from a carriage and seriously injured, several bones being broken. As it was on the frontier, and hard to obtain the needed help, I was taken to the hospital at the Soldiers' Home, Lisbon, North Dakota. Everything was done which human skill and kindness could do, and for a time I gained; then the pain became worse. A decayed bone was removed from the cheek, and in October, 1902, at the urgent request of my physician, I underwent an operation in another hospital, but this gave no permanent relief. All this time my arm was gradually growing useless and very painful.
In August, 1904, I was asked to try Christian Science treatment. I thought I knew it would do me no good, but the doctor was advising my return to the hospital for the removal of another bone, etc. He said that this was my only hope of relief, and that I could not live long as I was. I had lost all hope of relief, and had no desire to live, when I turned to Christian Science.
I went to a practitioner, and was relieved at the first treatment, was soon using my arm, and the decayed bone and all other foreign matter came away painlessly under the care of the Great Physician. In three months I was well. Other ills of many years' standing,—of the stomach, bowels, etc.,—all vanished as well. I also laid aside glasses and see better than I did before.
