Words cannot tell all that Christian Science has done for me. It came to me in a time of sore need, when all material means had been tried and had failed. I had not been well since I was four years old, and at the age of sixteen I had a very severe attack of rheumatism, from which I was never entirely free. I cannot remember a day I was free from pain. About eighteen years ago a friend of mine was healed through Christian Science, and she advised me to try it, but I refused even to investigate it.
About twelve years ago my condition became much worse, and new complications were also manifested in an alarming form. My sufferings were very severe and the attacks were becoming more frequent. My physician finally advised change of climate. He recommended Southern California, and as soon as my husband could make arrangements we started for Los Angeles. A dear niece who was a Christian Scientist begged that I would try Christian Science, but I would make no promise. She then asked if I would read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" if she sent it to me. Although I would make her no promise, the seed sown many years before had begun to germinate.
After being here two weeks I had the most severe attack I had ever had. I could get no relief, and life did not seem worth living. The doctor did all he could, but told my husband that as soon as I was able I should go away from here, as it was no place for my trouble. The thought then kept coming to me, Why not try Christian Science? One evening a neighbor called, and during the conversation mentioned Christian Science. I said I had no faith in it; then she told me that she and her husband had both been healed by it and that she was sure it would help me. She brought me some Journals to read. I searched among the testimonies, and found enough to decide me to try it. We sent for a practitioner, who came and brought peace at the first visit. She explained to me that God is man's Life, and that I could depend upon Him in any climate and under all circumstances. The next day she brought me the "little book," "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Through the reading of this book, and the help of the practitioner, I have been healed of all my diseases.
