[Translated from the German.]

I have studied Christian Science for about two years,...

From the September 1907 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have studied Christian Science for about two years, and when I stop to think how little I formerly knew of the truth, I feel very much encouraged. I still have much to overcome, but I am given sufficient strength and understanding for each day's problem, and I know that I am taking a forward step every day toward perfect harmony. I am grateful that I have been enabled to understand this truth, and I am learning not to be discouraged by past failures but to strive to know that man has a right to reach perfection; and this thought helps me on, as the way is becoming more smooth and the work easier.

In August, 1903, I had a severe attack of stomach trouble. A physician was called, but after seven months I was in such a state that I could no longer do any work, and this condition lasted for about three months. I then seemed to improve a little and returned to my work, but continued taking medicine. About two months later the condition grew worse again. I tried several physicians, and according to their verdict I had a very serious disease of the stomach. During this time I tried many remedies but grew worse,—could only take a little milk, and even that caused me much suffering. At this time a friend who belongs to the same union that I do called and asked if I needed their support, which was offered and accepted, as it was said that I was near dying. A friend in the same union heard of my hopeless condition and sent word that he himself had been healed of the same disease without medicine. This appealed to me, because I had lost all faith in drugs. He told us of Christian Science and what a blessing it had been to him. I had never heard of it but decided to go to a practitioner. I did so, and returned filled with gratitude because I could eat what I wanted, and in a short time I was perfectly healed.

This is but one of the many blessings which Christian Science has brought to me. Words are inadequate to express the love and gratitude I owe to Mrs. Eddy; and I wish to express my gratitude to every one who has helped me.—
