I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. Over a year ago I was taken very sick, and after six weeks of suffering it was decided by several of our best physicians that an operation was necessary. I was then carried to a hospital, and there operated upon. After remaining there four weeks I was brought home, although I could not stand up without help and to walk one step was impossible. I gradually grew worse, and the physician stated that nothing but another operation would save my life. In ten weeks from the time of the first operation I was back in the hospital for what was considered a still more serious one. The exploration revealed an abnormal growth, which was pronounced malignant by the physicians. They did not operate on the growth, saying that to do so would be fatal — that I would not leave the operating-room alive. Even without the operation they gave me but a short time to live—not more than two months at the outside. In three weeks I was brought home again, and we had the advice of seven physicians, but they all declared the condition to be fatal.
I have a friend who had spoken to me several times of Christian Science, but while I knew that it had healed her I thought it could not help me. She sent me her copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," but I could not read very much as my eyes were very weak from the nervous strain. As the weeks advanced the pain became almost unbearable, an attack lasting for hours. My family became distracted and begged me to try Christian Science as a last resort. Finally I consented, and a practitioner was called. After the first visit the pain ceased, and there has been no return of it since. Within six months the growth had disappeared, and my health gradually improved. I can now take long walks, and feel that I have entirely recovered.
I am indeed thankful for the knowledge I have received of this great truth, as well as for my restored health. I shall also be glad if this testimony is the means of helping a fellow-creature to see the light and to know the healing power of the Comforter as made known in Christian Science.—Bay City, Mich.
