From the March 1910 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As I read the helpful testimonies of others, I feel it a great privilege to add my own experience of the healing power of God as taught in Science and Health. Having been treated by the best physicians in our city with only temporary relief, I was indeed discouraged. When I sought them for further help, they gravely shook their heads, saying that I should be thankful I was alive. This condition had been brought on by the many operations I had undergone, two of which were extremely critical. After one of the operations I was many weeks in convalescing, and my health was never normal at any time until after I had come into Science. I sought help in Christian Science in November, 1907, and at that time was suffering from rheumatic and heart trouble. After two treatments I was relieved of all pain, but I continued to take treatment for four weeks, as I desired a perfect healing. At the expiration of that time I had been healed of a complication of diseases, some of which were chronic and some believed to be hereditary. As I realized my benefits, the thought came to me as to what my father would think of it; he being an orthodox minister, as was also my grandfather.

It seemed hard indeed to depart from the old faith, and I meditated seriously over this, but I was enabled through Christian Science to visit my father last summer, after an absence of eight years. He was overjoyed to see me in such perfect health, and one evening as we sat alone, he said, "Daughter, I cannot understand your being so well,' for as I remember you, you were a frail sufferer, and it does not seem possible that you can be so well." I said, "Papa, you probably would not be so pleased if I were to tell you how I was healed;" but he replied, "It matters not how; I am glad and thankful to see you well." I realized then that the time had come when I could tell him what God and the understanding of Science had done for me. I told him of the healing, and also of the spiritual uplifting, and that I had indeed learned that God is sufficient for our every need. He said he was glad that the God he loved and served had been more to me, and had been my physician as well as my spiritual guide, and he also murmured in ecstatic tones, "Praise God, the Giver of all good gifts!"

Through the noble mind and love of Mrs. Eddy, this pearl of great price has been given us, for which I am thankful beyond expression.
