I feel that it is time for me to express my gratitude for the great blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. For more than fifteen years I suffered from periodical attacks of rheumatic trouble, also an internal disorder which caused me continual pain. Frequently I endured such agony from the latter that I became unconscious, and those around me scarcely dared hope that I would rally. Often I prayed for death, thinking then there was no release possible for me in any other way. I had not passed a day for years without taking medicine of some kind, sometimes several kinds. My doctors could do very little to relieve me, much less could they cure; and yet, I hold a most grateful memory of their unfailing kindness and sympathy.
Nearly three years ago, while in this state of suffering and bondage. I heard for the first time of Christian Science, and felt a great desire to try it. Soon after, I was attacked by a very severe illness, all my ailments having come upon me together as it seemed. Not knowing of my wish for Christian Science treatment, my daughter sent for the family doctor. I, however, continued to get weaker, the eruption especially spreading rapidly, in spite of the doctor's efforts. At last, finding that I grew no better, and knowing he had done all he could for me, he left me to my daughter's care, saying he would come again if we required him. Thus, without any effort on our part, the way was opened for the truth.
A Christian Science practitioner was sent for, and during the first treatment such a sense of peace came to me that I felt I had chosen the right way. The skin disease, which had become almost unbearable, was relieved at once, and completely disappeared in three days. In less than three weeks I was healed of all these complaints. I have had no return of any of them, and have never required any material remedy since. I am seventy years old. according to mortal reckoning, but have better health and strength than I have experienced for many years, rising at half past five every morning and attending to household matters most of the day.
