I became interested in Christian Science through the relief given my wife, although until that time I had never even considered it. I then commenced the study of Science and Health, and attended Christian Science services. I am in the wholesale ice business, and a short time after commencing the study of Christian Science, one day a workman let a cake of ice slip from the hook, the hook cutting my right hand. The hand commenced to swell and soon the entire arm became affected. I kept at work all day. but when I reached home at night I was in a high fever. My wife asked if I would have a doctor or Christian Science treatment, and when I said Christian Science, she telephoned to a practitioner for help. I soon fell asleep, and when I wakened the pain was almost entirely gone and the swelling could not be seen except in the hand. The next morning the healing was almost perfect, so that I went to business; and with one more treatment I was perfectly and completely healed.
Some time afterward, I was struck one day between the knee and ankle with a cake of ice, and the pain was intense at first; but I declared the truth as given in the "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 46), and the pain was entirely overcome. I am grateful for the help that Christian Science gives in so many ways, but it seems to me that the best part of it is that one receives so much light in overcoming the errors of everyday business life. I find that everything in my business goes along much more smoothly than before.
