I consider it a privilege to send the following testimony, bearing witness to what the truth has done for me. Jesus' words,, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," are a blessed promise to one in bondage as I was at the time I began to investigate Christian Science. For eighteen years I had suffered with bowel trouble, and finally it resulted in a serious complication which several prominent physicians had failed to relieve, and at last an operation was suggested. I was in a most morbid mental state. A year previous I had had a nervous breakdown, and not having fully recovered from it, the least excitement would bring on a sinking-spell. Many of my relatives and friends, and I more than any one, thought that I would not live long. I was indeed "athirst in the desert" (Science and Health, p. 570), and it was not until I found Christian Science that the chains were loosened and I beheld God as a God of love and not as the creator of sin, disease, and death, as I previously believed. After a few weeks' treatment in Christian Science I felt that I was healed, and since that time have continued to grow in strength and understanding. I am indeed very grateful to God for this healing, but am even more grateful for the spiritual uplift and happiness which the truth brings to all earnest seekers for the things of God.
Since I was made free I have witnessed many beautiful healings. Many relatives who had been in bondage for years with chronic diseases, from which they had almost lost hope of being released, have through the knowledge of my healing investigated this truth and been healed. My husband was healed of a tubercular disease which manifested itself in a large running sore on one side of his nose. He first exhausted medical treatment, and did not turn to God until all had failed and after the last physician told him that he feared under medical treatment, if the healing took place, it would not be until after the loss of one eye, the sore at that time being very near it, and that he also feared serious disfigurement. Then my husband knew that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." He turned to Christian Science, and in a few weeks the healing was complete. What a glorious revelation of the power of God!
I am indeed thankful to God for His wonderful love and watchful care, and to our dear Leader, whose life of love and self-sacrifice is helping thousands to know God aright.
