I wish to tell of the healing of my mother, which to me was very beautiful after I had seen her suffer for many years. She had been under medical treatment for over ten years, and had undergone several operations, but grew worse continually. The physicians were unable to tell us just what the trouble was, but she suffered intense pain for days in her back and limbs, and was unable to sleep at all unless given an opiate. We were informed by one physician that eventually she would go insane.
This was over nine years ago, and at that time we had not heard of Christian Science, or if we had, had paid no attention to it; but one day a lady called to see my mother, and found her suffering greatly. She suggested that mother try Christian Science, and took her to a Wednesday evening meeting that evening. Although mother was in considerable pain when she left home, and hardly able to walk, she left the meeting free from pain. The 'testimonies impressed her greatly, and she at once sought a practitioner for help. Her healing was slow for the reason that at that time she could not read English; but although she was then past fifty years of age, she purchased a copy of Science and Health and a primer, and began the study. Today she can read very intelligently and is perfectly well. Her whole life has been changed from one of worries, cares, and suffering to one of happiness, health, and contentment. To me this is wonderful, and I am certainly very grateful. Shortly after becoming interested in Christian Science, she was healed of gall-stones, acute throat trouble, colds, and many minor troubles, through the application of this truth.
I have had many healings myself; stomach trouble of years' standing, and from which I had suffered greatly at times, left me; also hay-fever in its worst form. I laid aside glasses which I had worn for years and always expected to wear, these and many other ills having been met and overcome by the honest application of this truth. But the peace of mind and the contentment that have come into my life have meant much more to me than the physical healing, and I am now happy where I once was discontented and miserable. My husband also has received many blessings. He was healed of deafness in one ear without any treatment whatever, and has been able to overcome, with the aid of a practitioner, many other difficulties. We certainly have had numberless proofs of the power of Truth to meet our every need. Our home is a very happy one, and for all the blessings that have come into my life I can truthfully say that my gratitude is endless and can best be expressed by striving to walk in the path our Leader has so lovingly shown us.— Chicago, Ill.
