Testimonies of Healing

From my earliest recollection, I was considered delicate...

From the March 1912 issue of The Christian Science Journal

From my earliest recollection, I was considered delicate and was always under medical treatment for some ailment. After marriage I had treatment from physicians in this country and in Europe, receiving at times some relief but no permanent restoration, and the difficulties gradually became more acute. After several years of semiinvalidism, the time came when three physicians in the city of Philadelphia, two of whom were then, and I believe are now, the heads of two of the largest hospitals in that city, announced that only a serious operation would save my life. At this point I turned to the high-potency system of homeopathic treatment, then to electric treatment, from this to so-called mental science (supposing it to be Christian Science), and ultimately back again to the allopathic school.

About twelve years ago we moved to Boston (against the advice of physicians, on account of climate), and within a few months from that time I was in a more serious condition than had ever before arisen. At this juncture I made the discovery that I had never had Christian Science treatment, and I turned to it. Although I was not instantly healed, I received immediate relief, so that after the first treatment I had a quiet night's rest, the first for a long time. The entire physical appearance of disease required time to pass into its native nothingness, but through the work of practitioners and my study of Science and Health I was completely healed.

During the intervening years there has been no return of the old troubles, and such phases of inharmony as have presented themselves from time to time have been quickly destroyed. Since my healing twenty members of my family have been helped by Christian Science, and several are now engaged in its practice. In relating the physical healing, I am telling but the least part of what this truth has accomplished in our home, for above and beyond all else is the spiritual unfoldment which has come to me and of which physical health is but the natural result.
