Christian Science was brought to my attention seven years ago, but it was over a year before I became interested. I was a victim of the stammering habit, a trouble which I believe is as hard to endure as serious illness, on account of the constant embarrassment. I left the State Normal School on account of it in 1901, and from then till I took up Christian Science treatment it had not grown any better. I first took treatment for about six weeks off and on, but got no relief. A few months later I began treatment again, and studied "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," also read numerous pamphlets and other literature, and after about three weeks' irregular treatment relief came, so much so that during the past several years I have had no trouble from it except at times when I have allowed excitement or worry to control me, and then it has always been overcome promptly as soon as Science was followed or treatment sought.
I am, of course, grateful to Christian Science for this relief, for now I am in business for myself in a sales capacity where I must talk to customers a great deal; also because through the study of Christian Science I have attained higher moral and spiritual ideals, and draw the line more sharply between good and evil thoughts and actions. I consider myself but a beginner in Science,—I have yet many things and thoughts to correct,—but some day I hope to be able to consider myself a Christian Scientist. I have always had the best of health, but occasional colds have been overcome by Science treatment, hence it appeals to me personally, mostly from the standpoint of uplifted thoughts and ideals.
