I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my child. She had a very serious bowel disorder and had been given up by one of our physicians, who advised me to take her to my mother's home some three hundred miles away. This physician told a friend that the child would not live until I reached the end of my journey. The night I came home a Christian Science practitioner was called, and the third day the child was healed. At this time there were no Scientists in the county that I knew of, and the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" were truly my only helpers. All I knew about Christian Science was that it was all good, and all good was of God. The blessings for myself and family have been many. We have six children, and there is not one who has ever known of any healing power but the Christ, Truth.
Two years ago my husband had a complication of diseases, but was not willing to do anything until it came to the place where something must be done. A physician was therefore called in to examine him, and after the examination he asked if my husband wanted him to take the case. I left it entirely to my husband to decide whether he wanted Christian Science or materia medica. Before leaving, the physician said that if Christian Science could pull him through he had better stay with it. After the physician had gone, my husband decided to try Christian Science, and he was healed in three weeks. On reaching home the physician told his wife that materia medica could have done him no good.
We have depended absolutely on this healing truth to solve all the problems that have presented themselves in nineteen years, and they have been many. My three youngest children were born under Christian Science treatment. With the first one, who is now eleven years old, I was up and doing my own work in three days; after the birth of the second, now eight, I was up in forty-eight hours; and when the youngest was born, six years ago, every man-made law was broken and I was up in eight hours.
