I would like to give my testimony of healing for the encouragement of other seekers after Truth. Fourteen years ago the way was opened to me by the reading of a copy of The Christian Science Journal which a neighbor gave me, and the explanations in this periodical as to the life and mission of Jesus were so satisfactory to me that I accepted them unhesitatingly as true teaching. The old church had failed to enlighten me with regard to some of the most important points, and I felt that it did not fulfil its mission, for the vital and most glorious element of religion appeared to be obscured.
Mental distress awakened the desire in me to gain some understanding of this teaching, and I therefore purchased a copy of the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. While it is true that I did not investigate Christian Science in order to be healed, it is nevertheless true that I was healed of a disease which I was believed to have inherited and which no physician as yet has been able to cure. It was not altogether a physical trouble, for the loss of a child and the deceit of so-called friends had brought about a mental condition difficult to describe. These afflictions all disappeared in less than two weeks' time through my faithful reading of the text-book.
Since becoming acquainted with Christian Science I have seen many people who seemed in a hopeless condition but who have found peace and health. Christian Science is the "pearl of great price," and I feel deeply grateful to God that my life has been transformed. This teaching has given me inner peace, and has inspired me with the certainty of God's ever-presence and with a firm confidence in a helper who never sleeps. — Wagoner, Okla.
