In Science and Health we read that "every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger" (p. 410); and I have proved this, for I have had many trials and thereby found my strength. After hesitating for several years to express through our periodicals my gratitude and appreciation for what Christian Science has done for me, I thank God that now I have taken my stand for Truth.
Five years ago I was healed in five treatments of neuritis, for which I had been under medical treatment for over six years. For the past two and a half years, with the assistance of a friend, we have overcome many ailments, including a rheumatic condition from which I had suffered at intervals for several years. The healing came very slowly, but for this I am thankful, as my spiritual understanding was thereby awakened. While away from home I was troubled with skin poisoning, which caused great suffering. I tried to handle this difficulty myself, but the pain and itching were so intense that I was compelled to ask for assistance. My friend, who was on the way to Boston at the time, treated me, so I found that absent treatment is effective, as the irritation left and has never returned. Then, too, hemorrhoids have been healed through absent treatment, and I have been freed from many minor ailments, such as colds and headaches.
My disposition, thoughts, and desires have also been wonderfully changed since I have known of this healing truth. I find it a great pleasure and help to study the Lesson-Sermons and read our literature. Words fail to express my love and thankfulness to God, and my gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for all the benefits received through Christian Science.— Atlantic City, N. J.
