It is with a grateful heart that I wish to tell of the blessings and benefits which have come to us through Christian Science and how we were led to experience these. About five years ago our only daughter became afflicted with a severe nervous trouble, and although we consulted several physicians, the trouble grew more severe, till her condition was such that she had to be watched practically all the time, as things would otherwise go wrong. It finally seemed as if we must take her to an asylum, though this would have meant a deadly blow to my husband and myself, for having lost our only son through an accident two years before, it seemed more than we could bear to see our daughter go through such a dire experience.
When the need is greatest, help is at hand. We heard of Christian Science through dear friends, and though it was all new to us, we decided to make a trial, since drugs remained utterly ineffective and all other means had failed. My husband applied to a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help, which was given immediately. The result was wonderful, for after the first treatment our daughter slept all night, to our great surprise, as she had not had a quiet rest at night during the six months preceding. Still there were many difficulties to be overcome till the victory through Truth was achieved. Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It has freed our daughter of her trouble, and the kind practitioner did all within her power till the time came when the darkness was dispelled by the light of Truth.
Our daughter is healthier now than she ever was before, and she has been a good Scientist for over four years. She knows that God is Love, and Truth is our only physician. We have had many demonstrations in our home and feel that we cannot be too grateful for what Mrs. Eddy has done for humanity.— Davenport, Iowa.
