For some twenty years or more I took medicine and was under the care of physicians. I traveled in search of health in different climates, but found no permanent relief from rheumatism and stiff joints. About this time Christian Science was offered me, but because of my old beliefs I could not accept it. Five years later I was led to purchase a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and also to ask for help from a practitioner, who lived many miles away. I received immediate benefit, continued to improve rapidly, and have had no return of this suffering in the past eight years.
About three years after this healing I was taken suddenly with heart failure and to satisfy the family called in two prominent physicians, who said I might live thirty minutes. I did not lose consciousness but endeavored to realize that God was my life. We called for help as before from a loving practitioner, and in about five minutes I was all right. The doctors had left the room, not being able to help me, but my husband called them back to see what had been done through the power of God, and they pronounced my condition normal. We have had many beautiful demonstrations in our home during measles, chicken pox in its worst form, and all diseases that children are seemingly heir to; and in singing our "Communion Hymn" by Mrs. Eddy (Hymnal, p. 212) I can realize that I have felt "the power of the Word."
