During many years it has been my intention to give my testimony in deep gratitude for all that I have received through Christian Science. I had always enjoyed very good health, but in the year 1909 I was suddenly taken very ill with hemorrhage of the brain. The physicians told me that it would take two years to recover. In order to try a change of air I was sent from one place to another with nurses, but received no help.
During my stay in a sanatorium a friend of my son proposed that his sister, who was a trained nurse and a Christian Scientist, should accompany me on my travels. I soon met this lady, and we agreed to travel together. She did not speak to me about Christian Science then, but her humble wish was that the physician should tell me the truth. After a few days the physician asked me if I had heard about Christian Science and told me that in his opinion it would cure me. Now my companion started to talk to me about this religion, and I soon bought our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. From childhood I had been accustomed to pray, to read the Bible, and to go to church, but I did not receive what I wanted from my old religion. Now I felt that I had at last found the truth, and was very happy. Since then my spiritual growth has been slow, and it has taken several years for me to understand the allness of God and the unreality of evil.
After I was healed of the disease of the brain, through absent treatment, I became sleepless; but with the help of the same practitioner this was overcome, although my recovery was slow. Now I enjoy very good health. Our dear little daughter has also been healed through Christian Science treatment, after she was given up by the physicians. They were much surprised to know that Christian Science had healed her. During the past seven years we have had no other physician in our home; any illness or family trouble has been overcome through the power of Truth.
