I turned to Christian Science in an hour of great need, solely to obtain physical healing. I was suffering from severe internal maladies, was always in pain, scarcely able to walk, and spent all my time either in bed or on a sofa. I had been under the care of several doctors but could get no relief, and the specialist to whom I last went was unable to do anything for me. A very serious operation was talked about as the only possible means of relief, but it was not recommended, for the results could not be guaranteed. When the outlook seemed darkest, a friend strongly advised me to try Christian Science; so I began to take treatment and to study the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. My healing came slowly but surely, and now for many years I have been perfectly well and strong.
The physical healing is, however, just one of the many good things that have come to me through Christian Science. I know beyond all doubt that this teaching is the truth, the complete Science of being; and I have proved many times that it is a practical help in every sort of difficulty. It is not a religion; it is religion. James says, "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." That is just what Christian Science teaches.
To put into words the many benefits I have received during the nine years I have been studying Christian Science is impossible. I can only say it has given me health, comfort, harmony, and happiness; it has answered my questions, solved my problems, helped me to be a better woman. My one desire is to gain more understanding and to repay in some degree the immense debt of gratitude we owe to Mrs. Eddy, the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.— Birmingham, England.
