I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for the healing of an affliction of the feet known as broken arches. I had been treated for this trouble by the best specialists available without any good effect whatever. Arch supports had been worn for quite a while with only temporary relief, and the pain was gradually extending up toward the knees. However, about this time I became interested in Christian Science through a very dear friend who invited me to attend church services with him one Sunday morning. I was deeply impressed with the meeting and was able to tell by the expressions upon the faces of the people about me that they were very happy and contented. I also noticed the ushers standing in the aisles and wondered if I should ever be able to stand thus for any length of time without experiencing severe pain in my feet and legs, little thinking that before a month had elapsed I should be healed of this affliction by simply reading the Christian Science textbook. Nevertheless, this was the case, for about two weeks later I purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and was completely healed before I had read it more than halfway through the first time. The supports were discarded as I realized I had no further need for them.
I can never express in words the joy and peace of mind experienced while reading this wonderful book. A new world full of peace and happiness had unfolded to me. I no longer looked upon life from my former standpoint, but was enabled to rise somewhat into the spiritual consciousness of a child of God. I read the book through about five times in succession, spending all my spare moments pondering over the spiritual message it conveyed. This healing occurred over three years ago and today my feet are perfectly normal, and I am able to stand as long as may be necessary without any bad effects whatever.
While indeed grateful for the healing of my feet, I am more thankful still for the spiritual uplift which followed. I have been able to realize that God is an ever present help, and if we rely upon His omnipotent power in time of trouble, we shall never be disappointed.—Washington, D. C.
