[Written for the Journal]

ALL IS WELL

From the December 1919 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When round me sounds the battle's din.
And tumult seems without, within,
To rule supreme; when fear assails,
And error's voice almost prevails,
Life's lessons seem too hard to learn—
To God omnipotent I turn
And hear Love's gentle accents tell:
All good is with you. All is well.

Stilled are the tumult and the fear.
No longer error's voice I hear,
But rest in confidence and peace,
Knowing God's law brings man release
From all that would his progress stay
Along the upward, narrow way.
This truth will doubt and fear dispel:
All good is with you. All is well.

With freer courage for the fight,
With eyes uplifted to the light,
I onward press, with joy untold.
Doth not God's arm His child enfold?
And when at last the day is done,
The battle fought, the victory won,
Truth's ringing notes in triumph swell:
All good is with you. All is well.
