Testimonies of Healing

It was indeed through trials and...

From the December 1919 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It was indeed through trials and tribulations that I was led to seek the help of Christian Science. It was God's loving answer to my prayer when in the wilderness I cried out for light and strength. I knew practically nothing of this wonderful teaching when I went to a practitioner whose sign I had seen. When I exclaimed that I could not understand how an almighty, all-loving God could send His children such sorrows and unbearable trials, he lovingly assured me that God never did it, and I was much interested in his further explanations to that effect. I soon went to the reading room to procure Science and Health and studied this wonderful book with the greatest interest, finding consolation and peace of mind never known to me before. For the first time in ever so long I slept restfully and awoke mornings with hope and a glimpse of true happiness. I knew that I had found the truth, the only way to salvation, and a God who is Love. The extreme nervousness left me, and with two treatments bowel trouble of several years' standing was overcome.

That was four years ago and I have never returned to medical help since, but always look to the only real source of help, divine Love, when any problem presents itself. Colds, influenza, neuralgia, and other ills have vanished; and business difficulties, where hatred, greed, and selfishness were dominant, have been straightened out with the loving help of a practitioner. My little girl was quickly healed of earache through my understanding of the truth, and the complaint has not returned. Other minor ailments have been overcome and she has never stayed in bed with any of them. I have also experienced the most wonderful joy of helping others.

I give glory to God, and my deepest gratitude goes out to Mrs. Eddy, who was true to her mission—in spite of all the obstacles mortal mind put in her way—to reveal to us the everlasting truth of the Scriptures. I shall daily strive to follow the Golden Rule and so grow in wisdom and love, and show my faith and gratitude by my works. It has been my privilege to have class instruction, and to become a member of The Mother Church, also of the branch church here.—
