This testimony is given in loving gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. When I became interested in this teaching I had been wearing glasses for over twenty years for what one of the best specialists in Providence called astigmatism. After reading Science and Health for a while I decided to ask a practitioner to give me treatment for a difficulty that was troubling me at that time. I had no thought of having help for my eyes; however, after a few weeks, I did have treatment for them and within a week I had taken off my glasses and was free. Since that day, nine years ago my sight has been normal. At first I did not realize or appreciate what this healing meant to me, for I did not then perceive that sight is spiritual, that matter cannot see. Now through the daily study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I have gained the understanding that sight is eternal, for it is a sense of Soul, Spirit, and I feel more and more grateful every day for this healing.
Up to that time I had not attended the services of the Christian Science church, but in a few months I began to attend regularly, and it was not long before I decided to leave the church of which I had been a member for many years, and to become a regular attendant and eventually a member of the Christian Science church. Then later came the great joy and privilege of class instruction, and soon afterwards my appointment as teacher in the Sunday school.
A few months later I had what seemed to me a very wonderful healing. A rash suddenly made its appearance one evening, covering my body, with the exception of my face and neck. I treated myself to the best of my understanding to overcome this error, but the rash persisted and the next evening to my dismay it appeared on my neck also. Still I held to the truth, and within a few hours the eruption disappeared as suddenly as it had come. To me this was a wonderful healing, and it gave me a great sense of the protecting and healing power of divine Love.
