In March, 1911, Christian Science was first brought to my notice. For over two years I had been ill more or less. I had been examined by several medical practitioners, and they all agreed that I was suffering from a serious form of heart trouble and might pass away at any moment, although with great care I might live two or three years. At this point I turned to Christian Science and in about a week was a well woman. The reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and talks with a practitioner had truly wrought wonders. Since that time I have not taken a drop of medicine. In 1916 my husband joined His Majesty's forces, and since then I have been regularly to business and have not lost one hour through indisposition. Difficulties have arisen only to be overcome through the understanding and faithful application of Christian Science.
I would like to give another instance of the efficacy of Christian Science treatment. The forefinger of my right hand was infected. It was almost black up to the second joint, the hand was badly swollen, and the inflammation had reached to the shoulder. It had got to this state in two days. I called on a Christian Science practitioner on the way home from my business and asked for treatment, and in a few minutes the finger began to discharge quite painlessly. By the next morning all the swelling and inflammation had practically gone, and I was able to use the hand as usual.
Christian Science has been my salvation, and I wonder how I lived before I knew about it. I have been able to leave off glasses that I was wearing for double vision, through realizing that sight is spiritual and that it is not the natural organism that causes the eyes to see. I have been able to overcome in a marked degree a sense of extreme nervousness and fear, and life has altogether a brighter outlook. I am confident that to the extent I am true to the teachings of Christian Science, I can overcome erroneous conditions.
