Six or seven years ago out boy, a lad sixteen years of age, came home from work one day feeling very ill. He had a high fever, and all through the night was unable to rest on account of coughing. This continued three days, and by that time he was very ill indeed. I tried to help him myself, but could not, and I was much worried. I was torn with doubts as to whether I should send for a physician or a Christian Science practitioner. The boy had attended the Christian Science Sunday school, and was old enough to decide for himself, however, and he wanted Christian Science treatment.
I sent for a practitioner, who came about four o'clock in the afternoon and gave him a treatment, also talked to me in such a helpful manner that I was greatly comforted. The fever went down, and the boy rested' well all night. Next morning it went up again, so I called the practitioner on the telephone, and she gave him an absent treatment. When I returned to his bedside, about twenty minutes later, the fever again was gone. He was so much better the next morning that he dressed himself and went out on the housetop to work on a wireless apparatus. As the weather was very cold and raw, a great fear of relapse came to me, and sure enough next day he was very ill again. In four more absent treatments, however, he was completely healed of the most malignant case of what is known as double pneumonia. He has needed the help of a practitioner only twice since then, to overcome bilious attacks.
I was healed of facial neuralgia, an ulcerated tooth, and severe pains in the jaw. It was not until I came very near fainting from the pain that I had my husband ask for an absent treatment. Before he returned from the telephone the pain had ceased entirely. To me this was a wonderful demonstration of instantaneous healing. A hand severely crushed between two swinging doors was instantaneously healed through my own understanding of this wonderful truth. I am filled with gratitude for the wonder and beauty of it all.
