Testimonies of Healing

It is indeed a great privilege to tell...

From the January 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is indeed a great privilege to tell of the blessings Christian Science has brought to me. While in a hospital for those suffering from incipient tuberculosis I was invited to attend the Christian Science services, which were being held in a home near by, and thinking it a good plan to spend a long Sunday afternoon away from the sickness about me and most of all to hear some good music, I went. From the first I was impressed that these people had something I did not have and I wanted to learn what it was. Being free from prejudice I was willing to investigate and accept what was found to be true, and thus I gained my health, my happiness, my all.

Although not very much better physically. I soon left the hospital feeling assured that I would not have to go back. Fear however argued that I must continue to take medicine until I had learned more of the Science; and it was not until I gave up all material remedies and trusted in the one power, God, that I was healed. I then took up my work again and in doing this have had to make trains at all hours, eat my meals irregularly, and go from one climate to another. My healing occurred two years ago and I am still working and enjoying good health. At times there have been colds, bilious attacks, and headaches to overcome, but it has always been when I had not been living in the spirit of love as I should that such inharmonies have been manifested.

I thank God for Christian Science, also am grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who so unselfishly worked for the freedom of mankind. That which convinces me most that Christian Science is the truth is the way in which every thought is brought into captivity "to the obedience of Christ,'' and the fact that when one has once experienced that peace "which passeth all understanding," he is not satisfied with any other state of mind. My daily prayer is that I may have vision clear enough to understand God's will.
