My cup surely is running over with blessings, spiritual blessings, therefore I feel it my duty to give out some of my healing experiences, resulting from the study of the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. These words from the Bible have never failed me: "And I say unto you; Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." After wandering from one church to another seeking for I knew not what, and expecting my future days to be full of sorrow and sickness, Christian Science was again recommended to me. The Lord's Prayer and its spiritual interpretation by Mrs. Eddy were given to me with some literature. I showed it to some friends, and their remarks being anything but good, I cast it all into the fire. Before doing this, however, I had memorized the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, and for two years I prayed to be made more patient, more tender, more faithful, and more righteous. In the fifteen years previous, the message of Truth had come to me several times that some one had been healed through Christian Science, but to mortal sense I was not ready to receive the message.
I was suddenly afflicted with a disease called eczema. After five weeks of electric treatment I was dismissed as healed, but after two weeks had elapsed the trouble returned. Rather than be tortured as before by exposing my body to the burning appliance, I decided to attend a Wednesday evening meeting at a Christian Science church, and all I could hear was Truth, Life, Love, and harmony. I located a reading room, bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and found a Bible in the attic, left by former tenants, for which I was very grateful. I asked at the reading room for a practitioner. After a week's treatment all fear left me, and I destroyed all material remedies. It is about five years since that time, and through faithfully trying to overcome all that is not good, with an occasional treatment from a Christian Science practitioner I was healed of eczema, also of catarrh of fifteen years' standing, for which I tried every available material remedy, but to no avail. I was healed of pleurisy, which followed influenza, also of rheumatism and many minor ailments. Christian Science has met my every need.
Recently I received a very severe burn. I held firmly to the "scientific statement of being" as given on page 468 of Science and Health and it brought to my mind the Hebrew children who were cast into the fire yet were not touched by the flame. Mortal sense suggested many remedies but I denied error, declared the nothingness of matter, the allness of God, Spirit, and the reality of man, idea, as spiritual and not material. When I searched further for the truth I found these words on page 44 of "No and Yes" by Mrs. Eddy: "Progress, legitimate to the human race, pours the healing balm of Truth and Love into every wound." When inflammation and soreness became manifest, I declared the nothingness of error, or the carnal mind which is enmity against God, and realized the truth, and the healing was perfect.
