Over three years ago Christian Science was brought into our home by a very dear relative, and since that time has been our only physician, and we are daily proving that divine Love does meet our every need when the truth is rightly applied. Before learning of Christian Science, we had come to the end of our hope in materia medica, having had much sickness, and believe it safe to say that not once did materia medica ever restore us to health, for we were told many times that we must submit to the conditions.
Soon after coming to Christian Science we had occasion to call a medical doctor on account of the rules governing health and accident insurance which my husband carried, and the doctor told us that the disease would have to take its course, that he could do no good by making daily visits; but if we did need him again to call him. When the doctor left we called a Christian Science practitioner and in three days my husband was restored to perfect health, from an attack of articular rheumatism which was seemingly so severe that he could not bear us to touch his body with our hands. This healing and others—the healing of measles, mumps, colds, burns, adinoids, and a disease of the kidneys with which I suffered and which the doctor said only an operation would cure me of—were all brought about when we had no knowledge of what a Christian Science treatment is.
Our youngest child never breathed properly from the time she was a baby, and every winter suffered from severe colds, but after this was mentioned to a Christian Scientist this condition completely disappeared and her breathing became normal. Later we had healings of hay fever, asthma, earache, and influenza, the tobacco habit and many other discordant conditions. These healings made me very desirous of knowing more about Christian Science. From a child, good appealed to me, but I could not be persuaded to say I believed what I did not understand, and no other religion which I had ever investigated explained the Bible spiritually, therefore I refused many invitations to become a member of a church, but now I have found a religion I can not only believe but understand and demonstrate and, although not yet a member of a Christian Science church, I hope to be in the near future.
